He is submerged in a tub or vat of cool water when he pours the water over his head, so the boiling water is diluted and compensated for by the cooler water.

Sorry for the double post...

I feel pretty happy noone has gotten this yet, although it is disheartening that I seem to have broken everyone's spirit.

There is a correct answer.

As a recap, to answer all the questions in one post:

You can assume he is pouring a significant amount of water on his head. The water does in fact land on his head.

If noone posts for it within 24 hours and gets no closer to the solution, I'll post it.

Alright heres the answer:

The definition of boiling is when a liquid's vapor pressure is equal to atmospheric pressure

At 1 atm, which is at sea level, water boils at 100 degrees celsius
However

If you put the water into a vacuum, it boils regardless the temperature.

Therefore, the scientist put the room temperature water in a vacuum, which caused it to boil, then poured this room temperature water on his head.

Yes, it's still the same ship because the planks he replaced are also rotting now, after 20 years of repair.

Yes, it was made from bamboo and he is getting the planks from the same plant that gave him the planks for the first building of the ship.

Just a hint: When he says it's still the same ship after 20 years, I believe he means it's in the same condition it was 20 years ago, meaning it is again rotting or beginning to rot.

He is asking a question.

So my answer is yes, and explanation is in my above post.

I understand that, and maybe you did not quite get what I was saying because of how I said it. But when he asks if it's still the same ship and why, he means is it still in the same condition it was 20 years ago, rotting or on the verge of rotting. Your explanation does not answer that question.

no thats not what i mean... is it the same ship? its a really simple question. The question is whether or not the added planks actually qualify as part of the original ship after time.
Since every piece is eventually replaced you COULD have made two different ships. However it was chosen to use the wood as replacement does this now make that wood part of the ship or not?

Oh. Pardon me then.

In that case, no, it's not the same as the original, because all the planks are new. What a dumb f**king riddle. But really it's going to be yes for some retarded ass reason.

Since was and took implies past tense, it seems you are saying that she was definitely 12 at some point, but not necessarily at the time when she took the "16 year-old's classes". So basically she was 12 at some point, and took those classes four years later, without skipping any grades.

That doesn't make much sense, 12 years old would be 48 if you only count leap years...
