Post subject:  Carmod Emergency Lights Lag Discussion

If the lights are causing you lag please post here with how many cars it takes before you lag, how much you lag, and your system specs.

If the lights are causing issues for alot of people we will work on improving them lag-wise.

One way is to just make the player glow red and blue. Like you know how people glow red when cuffed? People in cars are in a playermodel technically, so making them glow alternating red and blue might work. Reducing the size of the current lights could also work.

I lagged at 3. Which is also another reason why I havn't been on too much, TS has been running more terrible by the day. That, or my mouse is getting worse..

The most I've seen is 3, it takes a few seconds for my computer to adjust and after that it runs fine.

The only problem im seeing with most of you is the RAM.

Half-life is an old game so almost any PC XP 2005 and up should be fine as far as graphic cards and processors go.

The thing I noted was that most people who are getting serious lag are running around 1-1.5 gigs of RAM.

I don't know if there is a way to fix it through carmod, but for future games and such, RAM isn't very expensive, average RAM is about 20-30 dollars a gig, and good gaming ram is about 40-65.

If people like it the other way better we can easily change it back.

I lag when there's 2-3 cars, but the fault lies with me and my terrible video card:
Nvidia FX 5500
I'd get a new one, but my Mobo is PCI, and any good video cards are all PCI-express now-a-days :? . Though I find ways of getting around this problem, either I look away from the lights, look at the ground, or just deal with the fps drop.
