Lockpicks are useless. There, I said it. Now that I said it, I wish to continue with why they suck:

1) They hardly work.

2) They're expensive as holy hell.

3) They aren't dependable (something CIA and other jobs require)

Here's what I suggest: Instead of lockpicking working on a random chance, it works 100%. However... it requires time. I propose that a few lockpick items be put in. A normal lockpick would take a long time to pick a lock, a fine lockpick, much more expensive, does it a bit quicker. A CIA lockpick being the pinnacle of design/technology would be even quicker since we need it to get in and out of places without having to use a god da*n mossburg / USAS to infiltrate places.

The way this is balanced is that most people would only have access to a normal lockpick. This basically weakens them as they have to stay in one spot as they lockpick and it takes awhile to do so. Fine lockpicks would probably be circulated through dealers and stuff. These kinds of lockpicks would be the kind hitmen are after since they can get in quicker and dispose of their target. CIA lockpicks are, of course, CIA only. I don't know, maybe a person would get their hands on one or two and sell them for ridiculous prices.

I'm really sick of having to use a mossburg to infiltrate a building where stealth is REQUIRED. I simply can't count on our lockpicks the way they are.

Yea, I think this is a good idea. I had to picklock Hotel C for a stealthy RP, but it took almost 10 min, but it still didn't open. And the picklock message should have a shorter range, so when you picklock the door, people can't hear it from accross the room (CIA Lockpick)

I mean yea ur kinda right but work 100% all the time! i mean jeeze how about we give u a tazer that u can use always and any range lol jk. But still, lockpicks dont always work in rl unless ur good at it and know how to use it but; i would say like... 70% of the time (but im not sure what percent its at now). And yes, i think the message should be shorter kinda like a whisper but a little longer range.

But on the same token, you don't have to pick a lock over 60 times (i've counted once) for it to finally magically open.

Maybe lockpicking doesn't always work, but its close enough to be 100%. That said, some locks should take longer to pick than others, but should be dependable and not this random nonsense.

ok... maybe it should work 85% but not 100 lol that is so cheap for the cia -.-. But i think a deal should be in order; how about if LLLL makes lock pick 100% work then they should atleast make tazer shorter range because its range is so rediculous.

Absolutely not, I refuse to have the MCPD loose its most valuable thing, a tazer, so the CIA gets an upgraded lockpick

Wait, why are you relating lockpicks to tazers?

not only should that be how lockpicks work, but it also hellps wwith RP too.

Normal lockpick: Hard to use, because your a random civilian using it who doesn't know how to lockpick!

Expert lockpick: You bought this because you know how to use it and your willing to invest money into an ACTUAL lockpick

CIA lockpick: always 100% because it's being used by professionals who KNOW what they're doing, and well, know how to ppick just about every lock.

Tazer range is pretty accurate to real life, sometimes it bugs and go longers cause it takes a second before it actually tazers, and the tazer range check is instant, so you could be farther away than you can be when you get hit.

I would love to forward this, but obviously I'm not an admin. Between 3 days I spent 12k on lockpicks, and sadly, Didn't open a single door. Atleast if you keep them like this.. Please make them more then 5 uses >.>

And maybe you should make it so it opens up sliding doors too. Cause if we want to break into a place like foxhound, we can't get in unless 3-4 people get shotguns and blow the door down

I'm aware of that, again if I did that I would have to put some code in to block access to places you shouldn't be able to access.

Vampy, tazer guns in real life have a 21 foot range. In game they have an 8 meter range which is about 23.75 feet or so, so it's pretty close to real life.

Back to lock picks, the message that someone is picking should definitly have a lower range, maybe like whisper range. I once heard someone picking the upper bar door from outside.

Yeah, it gives it all away when you try to break in.

i saw a skill mod on the black market server a while back, it had a lockpicking skill i believe, or maybe it was door hacking or somthing, but it got faster and more reliaible as your skill rose (skill rises came thru buying them, but maybe you could get them otherways) i donno, skills at least some sound good to me, and realisticly.. like they were saying, lockpicks dont take forever... if your good at it that is..

I believe this problem was fixed, and this is an old topic... very old.

Skill mod is the worst thing for an rp server.

Not to bring this from the dead, but...

I believe lockpick has an 8% chance of working.

I would not raise it above 50 or you will have lockpick whores busting in on everyone and frankly that is not realistic. Picking a lock takes time and is noisy.

We do not have lockpicks (execpt the cia brand) on the server at this time anyway, they may be given out in an event or something but they should not exist at the moment.
