These shouldn't take long...

Question #1
Some kids playing in your backyard drop a ball down a hole in the yard, approximately 3 feet deep. Since the hole is too tight to fit your arm in, you examine it with a stick and find out that it is curved. How do you retrieve the ball from the hole?

Question #2
While driving on a highway, you see that a tractor-trailer is stuck under an overpass. The maximum height of the overpass is just inches short of the height of the truck. What can be done to get the truck through the underpass in five minutes or less?

Question #3
While on a hiking trip, a mother, father, and two sons encounter a river that they must cross. The find a row boat that has a maximum weight limit of 150 lbs. The mother weighs 120 lbs, the father weighs 150 lbs, and the two sons weigh 75 lbs each. How will the entire family get across the river (using the row boat only!) and how many trips will it take?

All agreed other than number 3, I think I would attach wings to the boat and put a rocket on the back.

Deflate the tires enough.

Yes, but screw the boat, spaceship is lots better. And deflating the tires takes too long, DYNAMITE!

Ask the dumbass how he got the truck to fit in there the first place. Than ask him why he would do that if the overpass is obviously a few inches too short for his truck. Steal his s*it, and run away.

Tell the guy to ditch the truck and take the trailer.

Maybe we should make a Riddle and QA section of this.

Perhaps.

And:
LLLL has the answer to question #2 correct.
Andre has the answer to question #3 correct.

As for question #1, my first guess was the same as Brandon's (we had a problem-solving competition in my psychology class) but it was not the correct/most efficient way. Think of a more logical, natural way.

Answer to #1.

Have an experienced hooker suck the ball out of the hole.

get the kid to do it, his hand's smaller and he go it in there in the first place, right?

Well, some rather offbeat answers in most cases, but nice tries nonetheless...entertaining to say the least. But you still do not have the answer to this simple question.

Question #1:

Fill the hole with water.

Author:  Mike Yoh [ 09 May 2006, 00:08 ]
Post subject:

that could work if the ball's a pingpong ball, (which it isn't), a volleyball (which it isn't, nobody's arms are that thick that they can't reach into a hole that will fit a volleyball), a tennis ball (possibly), a golf ball (possibly), or a soccerball (again, same as the volleyball). What kinda ball is it?

My second guess is: Dig it up. It's only 3 feet after all.

Luke got the answer to Question #1 correct!

I know I did not specify on the type of ball, but that's how the question was delivered to me, and I got it right in like five minutes. Nice job Luke, LLLL, and Andre!
