Not quite sure I entirely understand the 10 chickens lay 10 eggs in 10 days part, but anyway, this is what I thought.

I arrived at the answer of 100 eggs in 10 days because if there are 10 chickens then that means that each 1 lays 1/2 an egg in a 1/2 day, so there would be 5 eggs the first half of the day, and 5 more eggs the second half of the day. So that would be 10 eggs in a day, thus, in 10 days time there would be 100 eggs.

so each half chicken would total 5 chickens... 10 half-chickens laying half an egg would mean in the 10 day period they would lay.
5 eggs... i worked half an hour on this. Wild guess gimme the prize money!!! Very Happy

Whats the answer?

Okay, first off, half a chicken can't lay an egg. Half a chicken would be dead.

Back to the riddle.

If a half a chicken lays half an egg in half a day. How many eggs are laid if there are 10 chickens in 10 days?

Simple. There are 10 chickens. 1 full chicken = 2 half chickens.

Each chicken lays 1 egg in half a day.

There are 10 days.

10 eggs.

10 times 2 equals 20.

20 eggs.

Your getting there. But still not right.

1337 eggs.

I'm sorry but this answer is just plain right either way.

Then again...it could be 0 eggs.

One half chicken lays 1 half of an egg, in 1 half of a day.

THerefore, 1 whole chicken lays 1 whole egg in 1 whole day.

10 chickens = 10 eggs a day = 10 days * 10 eggs = 100 eggs.

ZERM

Or, 10 halfs make 5 wholes.

5 eggs * 10 days = 50 eggs.

Going off of what Jared said would it be 200 eggs. Because if half a chicken lays half an egg in half a day, that means that half chicken lays 1 egg in a full day, so 2 of these half chickens equals 1 full chicken, which means 2 eggs, like Jared said, which means that there are 20 eggs laid in 1 day, which then means that 200 eggs are laid in 10 days.

Yeah, I forgot to multiply by the 10 days. Figures, I thought of this on the car ride home from my new house.

WINNER. Nice job, took me a few weeks to figure it out.

Pfft, all he did was multiply by ten.

Just kidding.

<3 Johab. Good job mate.

Jared's right though, all I did was multiply by ten, Jared's the real winner. I give all credit to Jared. Very Happy

EDIT: I mean of course afterward I thought about it and it did hit me and I kind of thought it out logically to make sure I was right, but Jared did do pretty much everything lol. I wouldn't have gone in that direction had it not been for him.

Nah, I was the one stupid enough to forget the ten days.

Winner is Johab!

But is still a loser at life.

Just kidding. I <3 Johab
