Depends on what the error said...

It means windows had a fatal error and crashed and it was dumping your memory for debugging. Reseting your computer before it was done only prevents anyone from figuring out why it crashed. To prevent it, you would have to see that debug file so we dunno, just try not to do whatever you were doing at the time it happened again.

A Tip, Right click on my computer and go to properties, Advanced, Startup And Recovery - Settings, and then set it for Small Memory Dump, cause ususally thats all you need. If it crashes often then do full memory dump but be aware it will use same amount of disk space as how large you memory is (2GB of memory would produce a 2GB dump file)

Format the hard drive and throw your computer off a building as high up as you can. That oughtta fix it.

Wrong, Formatting your drive doesnt get rid of EVERYTHING, the codes stay in the system.

Formatting your drive does get rid of everything on the drive. The only thing that stays intact is the MBR which is changed during format anyway. (Master Boot Record)

Nuker the MBR is not part of the partition to begin with.

Duh. He said disk, not partition.
