Post subject: | April/May Elections are here! |
That's right! You, the people, are now voting for whom you want to govern NukeCity for the remaining weeks in April and all of May! This is due to the recent turmoil that occurred during the former Mayor's residency, along with the suspected terrorist acts on the city's power grid and the NukeCity Police Department's mainframe (( the forum crash)). Voting booths are open until 8:00 PM EST, Thursday, April 10, at which time your new Mayor will be sworn in! The voting is open registration. That means you do not have to register your vote--just vote. You're probably wondering who the candidates are. Attached below this article are speeches given by the two candidates themselves earlier in the week--those parties being Al Willis and William Becker. Please, everyone, be sure to vote so you can share your values with the rest of this fine city! Signed, David Courtney Deputy Commissioner, NukeCity Police Department Al Willis wrote: The following speech was given from a podium erected in front of Mayoral Candidate Allehandro Willisimo's Apartment before he retired for election night. Quote: My fellow citizens, look with me out at our city. It takes no specialization to see the great ruins of a former glory which was torn down by the hands of war, gang violence, and political instability. Looking back on the course of events that have led us to this point it is not hard to imagine how it happened; all of its establishments rotted from both the top down and the bottom up. The office of the mayor had been dirtied by corruption and splattered with the blood of assassination while the criminals multiplied exponentially on the city streets. Look with me out over our darkened skyline. Others seeking this office see the present as a thing to maintain or digress from. But where they see doom, I see hope. I see a new city-state, a nation reformed, ready to take its place in the world. I see a strong leadership bathed in the pure waters of morality as the tip of the sword of a new people, a wealthy people, a cultured people, thrusting forward to extinguish all injustice. My life, all life, will end. Must we spend that time under the thumb of depression? We are at a crossroads: we are one of the lucky few in the history of this earth who have a choice, a choice oh there system of government. While I live, give me a country. A free country! The choice is yours. Previously Established Campaign Points:
William Becker wrote: Citizens of Nuke City, I, William Becker, am coming to you in the humblest of fashions. We have survived a troubled time over the last four years ((month)) and we have come out a wiser people. We have seen what can happen when someone tries to force their will and ideals over their constituents’ personal rights. If elected:
1. I will insure that the executive office never becomes too powerful. I will pass decrees to limit the power of those in authority. Never again will a group be persecuted and arrested by order of any mayor present or future, unlike during the late Mayor Shultz’s administration. I will propose a bill will be brought to vote on whether or not the mayor has the right to restrict the rights of the people without the majority’s consent except in cases of imminent harm to that citizen or surrounding others. If made into law it will hopefully limit the mayors power enough that there will never again be a threat of a totalitarian society and dictatorship like that the last mayor had tried to accomplish. 2. I will If elected mayor, solidify in writing the Rights of the People for the citizens of Nuke City and their Posterity, to include the following: A. The Right of the people to adopt their own religion, Speak openly in a public forum, honestly state in written word accounts of history and to peaceably assemble will not be infringed. B. The right of the people to carry and bare arms will not be infringed. C. The right of the people to be secure in their property and to be safe from unreasonable searches and seizures will not be infringed. D. The right of the accused to be aware of the charges against them as well as their accuser will not be infringed. E. The right of the accused o seek council and be subject to a fair trial with due process will not be infringed. ((this is only applicable to a sentence that exceeds ten (10) minutes. Ex. Breaking a window or brandishing a firearm in public doesn’t constitute the need for a trial)) F. The right of the people to receive just compensation for any wrongdoing toward them will not be infringed. G. The right of the people to participate in a direct democracy by both motioning and voting on propositions will not be infringed. 3. Lower Corruption among Public Officials. All those in authority will be given an evaluation on both their competence to hold their current position and their drive to help the General Public. 4. Never again will laws be forced on you. With the absence of a legislative branch all major decisions will be by consent of the majority. 5. I will ((if Nuker lets me)) reestablish a Judicial Branch to insure that no law passed invades an individual’s rights and to mediate both criminal and civil cases. 6. I will temporarily repeal the Freedom Act set forth by Mayor Shultz. It will be brought to open caucus and be restructured by the people. It will then be brought to a vote on which to implement, the former or the latter of the two laws. 7. I will be open with my committee members to hear all grievances against any and all public and private officials. I will both advise and help you through the best course of action in each complaint. I will not hide like the last mayor, even through mortal threats I will still meet with you personally. I hope you will allow me to serve you as mayor in the future. Vote for a better Tomorrow. Vote Becker. Thank you for your time. |

Wait, Al, can you promise things that are already in effect? like the homeless shelter? And are you serious that you want the CIA to be like the KGB or the SS? And what’s this stuff about the commissioner as the Mayor's lapdog...I guarantee Jameson won't be listening to you, if you are trying to have all the power, you are in place to serve the people as mayor not go on a power trip. The last mayor tried to have an personal army/ Arms of Govt and he was killed for tking advantage of the people. I would strongly advise that you learn from the past. |
