This is in response to the many recent occurrences of members of the community stealing the works of other users within the community and reproducing said works as their own for their own benefit. Should we keep a global blacklist that tracks all users who are guilty of this act, so as to warn such persons as organization leaders, as well as users who like to display their own creative works on the forums, and so on? I'm not talking about extricating them from the community entirely, more so just making these actions known.

If so, how long should their names remain on that list? Should it be kept somewhat private, say to a certain group of users? Should there be a way for them to get their name removed by the virtue of good deeds done after the fact? Any other ideas?

Please contribute to the poll, and offer your feedback to support your decision, if you will.

Being a victim of plagiarized work I believe we should infact strongly enforce blacklisting these players. If people are not able to produce their own valid piece of work, why should they get away with stealing others? They should be forever recognized of their crime they committed and this should be taken into consideration if he/she was to apply for a org.

Look at the last few apps for NCPD.

I concur that we should blacklist people who steal other people's work. The reasons are obvious.

I vote no, but that's just a opinion from someone who doesn't give a rat's ass about being plagiarized anymore; I've had it happen a few times, and honestly the people doing it were pretty da*n new, or just hopelessly brainless. Had one guy start using my name, actually, then each character I'd create, he'd make a nearly identical clone.

Blacklist them if you want, but I think shun and peer pressure will be forever more popular and effective methods than official banishment. However, if they are blacklisted, no great loss there; it's a very reasonable suggestion.

But it's not official banishment. It's a public list of names used to invite shun and peer pressure.

A way to fix this is to edit the persons application after you accept it so noone can steal it.

But if we make a 'list' of this, it will need to be a public one. Have someone in charge of it that people can report these actions to. and have that one person in charge of the list

This, but then other applicant's won't get to see examples of what the chiefs are looking for in applications.

Make a post with 1 good exmaple and 1 bad example, just to show people.

It'll be much easier to tell if they copied the 1 example you post than of all the applications people posted in the past.

I would recommend editing everyone's applications, but most people take pride in their work when they have a phenomenal application. I know I don't appreciate somebody editing my application when I'm done with it.

Ok, I saw the Plagiarism in the apps. I think the people that do plagiarize should be permanently banned. Blacklisted and permanently banned.

Honestly, I don't think they should be permaBANNED for the first time, but just put them on a no-hire list or a warning system, like if they do it once its a no-hire list, twice a ban from the forums and server for a few days, and if they do it thrice, a more severe and lengthy bad should be made, not perma'd though. I mean, if they copy your application to something, big deal. If the leader(s) let them in anyway, say something about it and then let them deal with it. Although, if the leader(s) let them in even if they knew about the app, expesially(spelled that wrong.) if it was recent they should be punished aswell.

I don't really want to go the route of banning users for it. If they don't learn their lesson here, they'll certainly learn it in English class. I just want to keep a list so the community can keep track of who is doing it, as it is a good indicator of how seriously they take their roleplaying experience.

I meant to say permanently banned from the forums.

I know, but I don't really want to ban them from the forums either. But if more people in the community wanted it that way, I'd be happy to oblige.

I think it should really depend on judgement. Sometimes they are
1. new
2. sometimes it is accidental,
3. and other times they are uncreative scumbags who leech the art and passion from other people and use it for thier own benefit, thinking they are high and mighty just because they made a thingy on the internet that is probably horrible, and at best a shadow of what the original thing they ripped off of was, even if the dirty rotten heretic who stole the works thinks it is good. These people are disgraces in the eyes of The Flying Spaghetti Monster (thousand blessings be upon him) and like nothing more than ruining other people's works of art. These are people who have no true understanding for Roleplaying, and are pretty much just people who play HAlo 3 all day and occasionally decide to play a video game with a grain of intelligence.

Only #3 should be banned.

I don't think they should be banned, we need a list so when we see them in game we can just make fun of them.

Alright, well we'll start up a list then. The next person to get caught plagiarizing will be on it.
