What needs to be done to make this happen?

To remove the jobs you can simply comment just one line in the alpha codes.

I am not sure about the names though, never tried it before o_o ..

I personaly dont like this idea, becasue everyone switches models every other second, and it gets confusing.

That's why I said there could be another way to make sure that the person you really want to talk to is REALLY that person..

I think all we really need to take away are the little job titles that pop up when you get next to somebody. You can't tell somebody's job just by standing next to them...

I'm agreeing with the fact that we should remove the Job Tag and Name.

This is just annoying.. Sometimes I get people to pop up and say.. "Hey, can I join the Mafia, man?"

I'm like.. "Dude, you can't know if I am a Maffioso or not.

He's like.. So what? Come on, I wanna join the family, please!

*GREAT IDEA*
ok ok ok another one of JP's Amazing ideas.
So for your job it will show a job but different...ok catch this. Instead of Mafia it will say "Jamesons Family Member". or w/e. And if they wanna see your job they type
/askjob
and then a menu will Pop UP
Show Your Job?
1.) Yes
2.) No
and then they will see your job till they die. But every one will know your name. It will stop meta gaming like crazy=)

Try being someone with hiring rights. (IE: Me before I was CK'd)

JP's idea has some merit, but I think the system is ok as it is. Maybe increase the length of time it takes of looking at someone to decide their job. SO you can't just glance at someone and see. Obviously people like cops and pizza guys can be distinguished by their models, so maybe make their "Name Show Stare Time" reduced as opposed to a Mafioso who you wouldn't be able to tell.

I don't think extra code should be added just to attain information about a person's occupation. I want the little job tags to go, no doubt about that. But to learn about that person's occupation should come from straight conversation, not commands.

The problem suposedly would lie in whether or not a cop is really a cop as well.

There is a way around this however. Try talking to them over /com, if they don't respond, shoot them ^_^

What if we had nametags. Like if you wanted someone to see you job, say "/tag Random Hobo". If you were an undercover cop you could type something random like "Janitor" and noone would know. If you didnt want a tag just type "/tag" and it would clear. or maybe it would clear when you die.

I'm just shooting for realism when I provide ideas, and when I critique others so...

I don't think it would be natural to see people wearing nametags around...

And, yes, you might not know whether a person is a cop or a porn star (despite the clothing difference), and that is how it should be. People deceive others just the same way in real life. In-game, when I was a hitman and a Mafioso, I told everybody that I worked for an insurance business outside of town (but people obviously knew I was lying when they read my job title). People should be accomodated with the ability to lie in-game.

yes!

Removal of job tags should be done, and I'm pretty sure it would be very easy too being as there's like some sort of code for it that is easy to make...or something...

I'm not sure, never really been good with programs, but al in all I back it up totally.

yes it would be easy to remove, but it still needs to remain in for people like admins, and getting it to show for just admins is a little more annoying than useful.

Plus Police Officers would still be able to know who works for who because they have records of all that, execpt they wouldn't be able to pull it up just by looking at a person, it might take some time to pull up a record for someone.

You could display the job title or ID number in a list when an admin types in a special console command, or add it to the amx_who or status list for everyone to see, I would imagine.

This way:

-Job titles will not be actively displayed, but can be attained if needed (as can be the identity of the person using amx_who or status commands)

-The ability to read character's job titles can be restricted to certain users in a more simple way.

-The process of typing a command into the console and retrieving the information closely resembles a situation where a police officer is searching a database for a person's record.

I think there should be a mod that you have to have like a 10 sentence convorsation with the person then there job ID shows up or something.. I don't know.

better still is /ask or something and if they agree it shows up untill you die. Also for cop it would be like auto keys for PD......... for admins it wouldnt be that hard....also if your in an org you would know every ones name. So if you were a cop and you asked for a name they could lie, run away then if they catch some one with that name it would be cool RP. So make ID tags or somthig.

This could also be a bad idea as in, you need to know their job to give a promotion, and they could lie about their job.

I think its fine as it it is.

I've been fooled more than once.

Couldn't agree more. Maybe cops should have actually badges as well though?

Oh yes, definitely, if it wouldn't be too much work. Some job classes will always have something that identifies them.

I think they should leave jobs as is, it's true everyone knows your job but with simple RP that problem is fixed.
I do, however, think that the RANGE you can see someones name at should be reduced quite a bit. It's easily exploited as in aiming... but I do think that would bring up admin problems.
