If you currently do not have an AV, I suggest:

Its free and best of all highly recommended!

I just got switched to TimeWarner and it gave us the Road Runner virus protection. It does a pretty good job, better than Norton.

About time ISPs gave out free protection. better for the internet, don't want millions of vulnerable PCs out there with no protection so they can become spam/virus/etc zombies.

McAfee sucks balls. AVG sucks balls. Norton sucks balls. Avast is awesome. ZoneAlarm Anti-Virus is awesome.

Well something is better than nothing, although having a false sense of security is bad also.

Alot of places that review anti virus software disagree with what you said on Norton and McAfee. I'm not saying that I think either of them is good, but I"m saying that alot of sites that review Anti-Virus software say both Norton and McAfee are decent anti-virus. (They also say zone alarm is pretty good)

In terms of free virus protection, go with Avast.

If you going to buy a anti-virus I would recommend you use Google to look up some and figure out which would be good for you. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

Norton and McAfee suck from personal experience.

Norton's rent-a-cop self sits there and says "hey you just got a virus, just wanted to let you know". ZoneAlarm on the other hand goes "hey you just got a virus and i just blasted its bitch ass back to hell where it belongs."

From my personal experience with Norton, I agree that it did suck. However they have made improvement over the last two years so just don't dismiss them out of the running. (Yes I have Norton, I get it for free though I so don't care)

This is something stupid Norton did for everyone who hates Norton: After I installed everything it tried to run its auto-update program, and it saw and classified its own auto-update program as a threat and blocked it from accessing the internet. (I later found out this was due to a setting I set but still it was quite funny)

Norton works great for me.

Maybe because I got it for free. And I don't feel like getting another.
