Hey guys. Tonight my computer decided to have a meltdown and in the process one of my hard drives was completly destroyed. Wont recognize on either of my computers, or any of my dads.

All i hear when it tries to start up is Click, Click, Click, Click, Click.

And that hard rive had all my games and other stuff on it. So i will be out of comission for a while until i can save up the money to buy 2 hard drives. (Replacment for the one tonight and another replacement for my other comp)

I know of newegg.com i picked out 2 HD's already 323$

It would help if there might be a cheaper place to buy either the same or better HD's. Thanks Guys

Its a good think you didnt buy that external hard drive because i would have kicked your ass, they are useles.. Also i hate western digital, i recommend seagate which is cheaper, and brandon, i doubt you need 500gb, even i dont fell me one 500gb hd.

Better buy this quickly, i think you can come up with $94 for that:

by the way, what kind of connector does your hard drive use?

sata

IDE

That hard drive you posted above is sata and the one i posted is sata, they will not work with only ide hardrives.

Also, if there is data you can not replace on that drive, freeze it for an hour or two. Then get the data you need off of it as fast as possible. It will only start clicking soon.

Preferabbly install XP onto a new HDD, add that old HDD as a slave after being frozen for an hour or so, get the data u need off, then remove it, and consider it dead.

Just be careful of ice on it, the HDD is airtight but dont get any ice or water on the board underneath or on the connectors.

I just bought that same drive, barracuda but an 80 GB one.

I already got two drives in the comp, both IDE.

A 40 gig and a 60 gig, theyre filling up fast so.

Probably the most hard drive space id ever use, would be about 150GB.

The SATA is nice too, alot faster than IDE.

Not really, unless your doing something thats hard drive intensive like music/video (i would know, ask brandon) editing.

Quote:
You will only experience a performance increase in circumstances where you are accessing data on the drive. Games will not benefit other than with quicker load times. Applications such as rendering will only benefit if the data files being worked on (and the resultant calculations) are too large to be held in system memory.

Well to replace the one that broke last night i need an external cuz i have no room inside. but to replace the one for my other comp its SATA

*EDIT*

Ok i found an old IDE HD turned into an external from a comp ages ago. 55gb (26gb left). But by the time i install everything on it again itll be lower lawl. so ill try and set it up and be back in. but im still buy that 320gb for 94$ - best deal EVAR

*EDIT 2*

My dad is going to give me and internal 160gb to change into the external case. so i wont be on as quickly as predicted. ^.~ >.<
