First, I have a CD of Windows XP Professional Academic version. When I put it in to install I get a error before I even get to select what HDD I want, Something along the lines of "Ntkrnlmp.exe Could Not Be Loaded Error Code 7"

I can install "purchased" copy of Vista fine, I can install my copy of Windows XP Professional x64 fine, I can install a "purchased" copy of Windows XP Professional Corporate fine aswell. Anyone happen to have a copy of the Academic XP Professional lying around? I just need the ISO. Or maybe know how to resolve that issue?

Also, I have Windows XP Professional x64 installed right now. It has been running fine so far, untill recently. I can't rememebr what I changed to make it at like this. Whenever I am in a HL1/2 Engine game and 3 or more people talk on the microphone, or there is a lot of gunfire going on, I lag.

My guess is this is your computer BIOS having complications with ACPI or advanced configuration powerinterface.

Perform a clean install, meaning wipe delete all existing partions prior or just do it the easy way (Put the disk in, and choose 'New Instalation')

When you get this offer "Press F6 to load SCSI/Raid drivers", press F7, this will bypass the ACPI detection process. Continue the instalation as normal.

Problem solved.

Disk isn't scratched. And I upgraded my BIOS version recently so ill try it again.

I think last time I did the F7 thing and I got another error. Or I think it just sat there and didn't go anywhere.
