whenever i play sourceforts or hidden source it doesnt load and say sosmething like hl2.exe isnt responding and it accured an error or something like that how do i fix this?? also i didnt dl hl2 it auto dl whenever i clicked on hidden source it just dled it for me. Do i have to go to website and dl it myself or what? (i already tried to uninstall hidden source and sourceforts but it didnt work).

Check to see if HL2 is fully updated/Downloaded. I had this error whenever I wanted to play a HL2 mod. The problem was that HL2 wasn't fully updated/downloaded.

how would u be able to see this?? (kinda new to mods and hl2 things)

Right click your steam icon, go to Games, click the My Games tab, and there should be a status right next to HL2.

the status says 100% ready so idk whats wrong its so gay. Maybe i have to manually dl it from the sites instead of me dling a hl2 game and let it just dl (thats what happened last time).

i still need help with this it keeps saying hl2.exe isnt responding =/ also i dled a new game called Dark Messiah singeplayer demo and it does the same thing but it says MM.exe isnt responding and this is gay -.- help plz?

Here is my suggestion:

Right click on half-life 2, go to properties, then go to the local files tab, then click on "Verify integrity of game cache...". After its done verifying click on "Defragment cache files".

Reinstallation of STEAM and all it's components, and if that doesn't work, you're honestly fucked. Im having the same problem man =\

how would u add hl2.exe to ur firewall option thing?

Turn off firewall, check if you have minimum specs needed for the running of HL2
