i have a source, from nuclearfallout.net, and he says that using xfire COULD GET YOU PERM. BANNED FROM VALVE! he says that valve bans all "hook" softwares, and xfire is a "hook" software, ppl have been banned but others havn't i don't know why, i haven't i don't know anyone who has, just be carefull.. i will continue to use it because if i get banned i can buy all the games over again because.... i have money like that.... well kinda, right now im $200 in debt do to my car/bills/ my stupid vacation to mexico. so YOU BE WARNED!

And I just reinstalled Xfire too. Oh well, guess I'll just exit out of it before I play Dystopia now.

It doesn't ban you. The people who have reported it have been caught using hacks on their PC. It's a pathetic attempt to get valve to unban them.

Offically, I've been using it for over a month now running and using the in-game chat feature in tons of valve games?

Am I banned? No.
Should I be Banned? No.
If they were going to ban me would I be banned by now? yup.


Its just a sad attempt like sniper says. Although I will admit there is a possible chance it could happen, but I don't think so. If you go do a search on the steam forums for xfire, you get like 2 results not even in the vac section.

No,xfire doesnt get you banned.Its just a lame excuse made by hackers/cheaters/exploiters to try and get unbanned.I havent had problems with it at all.

I've talked to my uncle (Valve employee) about me using xfire before, he would have told me if i could get banned for it.
