http://www.disasternews.net/news/news.p ... cleid=3347Well, as some of you may have heard there was a HUGE snow storm in parts of New York that occured on Thursday and has caused over 380,000 homes to be without power because to two feet of snowfall, and all the trees that fell down. Almost all the powerlines are a mess and it could take till next Tuesday to get it fixed..
The storm hit my town (Amherst) on Thursday and our power went out at 5:30 PM, my family and I gathered in our kitchen to look out the windows while seeing tree branches snapping (which sounds like gunshots. x.x), a lot of thunder and lightening (some of it was green o.o, my mum says that's because of it reflecting off the snow, but I don't know. =p ), and to see the beauty of snowfall while we listened to the radio.
We went to bed at around 9 that night seeing as there wasn't much to do and when I woke up I found that EVERY tree on our block and beyond was messed up so bad that it looked like a bunch of gaint hammers just smashed the top of them while the branches split. Seeing as this has made the roads a mess of trees (and downed powerlines/poles) they issued a driving ban...
With the driving ban my family and I were stuck in our house for three days and nights without power.. All we could do really was sit around, eat bread and food that didn't need to be cooked, read, and just waiting for time to go by. Yesterday (Sunday) they lifted the driving ban so we all drove up to our cottage and here we are now.. Waiting for the power back at our first home to come back (which might take till next tuesday) and all..
Due to the storm school for us has been canceled for all this week, but also due to the storm my mum and dad will have to pay like $2000-4000 for cleanup and house repairs. x.x, You'll see why when I can get back home and upload images and such. I've got a lot of pictures taken for ya'll ^.^
Well, yeah.. I guess that's that and wish us luck that our power will come back soon, I don't like staying up at the cottage that much. >.>
